eeny meeny miney mo!

given a choice, which would you pick?

both pics of the Celine luggage totess were taken from Celine's website, for their 2012 spring / summer collection. no, i am not yet getting any one of them. it's just a random question. i'm pretty keen on the navy one. cause it's entirely made of leather. means it's durable and lasts longer. but the canvas would be a slightly cheaper option if i do intend to get one. but it won't justify the amount spent albeit slightly cheaper cause it's basically made of canvas with leather trimmings.

over the years I've learnt to buy bags that are both durable and lasting in style. i like those that 'whispers' understated elegance (the correct word would have been 'scream', but doesn't make sense when your choice isn't something loud to begin with)... :p but you get what i mean...

and leather bags are just awesomely good. i love the smell of leather. expensive leather especially. it's really nice and no, it does not remind you of steak. we are talking about the leather here, not meat. and the more used the leather, the softer it would be and the more vintage it will look.

okay, enough bag talk... the focus right now is not to spend unnecessarily and too much. i need to put a temporary stop to all this till i am sure that I've enough to spare for everything.

I  think i should share this very  pic before i end this post. hehehehe... my  BB camera sucks big time but yes, I can already strike one off the birthday list. this should keep me company for a good couple of months now. and yes, I am indeed grateful. Alhamdulillah... :)

online shopping at 6.30 a.m.

yes, that was exactly what I did.

i was already awake at 4.00 a.m. it was so sudden. not like I've had enough sleep to begin with. and while whiling the time away waiting for suboh prayers, i decided to casually surf the net. LOL!! i wanted to watch the help having watched it halfway at MIL's a couple of nights ago. but something's wrong with my pirated DVD that it got stuck after like 20 minutes. oh well...

decided that i need some more new clothes. i'm lacking loads ever since I started wearing the hijab (excuses excuses)... :P but really, i need to do some major wardrobe revamp as most of my clothes were short sleeves and it's just too hot to be wearing cardis these days.

so nak buat apa lagi. shop lah! muahahahahahaha...

and online shopping i did. yes, i've a deep liking for clothes at thepoplook.com nowadays because the clothes are real nice, and it's cheap too. i mean, i can't afford to do zara every week can i? once a month probably. but once a week? madness...

and it's convenient too!! just a click away and you get to buy any clothes they have that is to your liking. it's really convenient! oh, and it's not just thepoplook.com. there are so many other sites which you could browse through. and these days, online blogs are the best place to shop from.

okay, enough of shop talk. i've another blog post to add later. i need to do my suboh prayers first!

p/s: ian's already awake too!! and he's watching garfield on tv... sigh...

tick tock tick tock...

turning 31 soon...

i've a good mind to do up a list similar to when those peeps in the west would have a gift registry kind of thing? i feel like doing that. and for the fun of it i think i will put it up.

i'm blogging via office laptop and because i forgot to bring my mouse home, i find it quite difficult to scroll and look for pics. yes, i'm tech hopeless like that...

so many things happened over the week. and so many things happening for the next coming weeks!! i'm excited. oh, and did i tell you i'm having a ball of a time at work? yes, i have tonnes to do. my upcoming projects are all due within a space of a week from each other but i'm happy and grateful to be surrounded with things to do instead of just sitting idle somewhere. the unemployment rate is becoming rather high these days and it's scary. syukur to Allah SWT (Exalted is HE) for giving me the rezeki to work. Alhamdulillah...

right, now that i am mouseless, my access to the www seems a tad limited. time for a night cap. i'm itching to create sets on polyvore. but it's difficult relying only on the touch pad and arrow keys.

till then, g'nite peeps! Assalamualaikum...!

this is suria...

i think i'm ready for a holiday!! :D

IN LOVING MEMORY...

I did my A-levels right after my SPM. It was what dad thought as fitting, as he was opposed to me taking up a part time job to fill time while waiting for my exam results. And at that point of time, i was pretty confident that i have found my calling, and that i was adamant that i would become a lawyer. the idea of reading pages after pages of law cases was pretty  intriguing at that time.

so dad decided that i should try a term at college. and if i still had the drive to continue and pursue law, i would stay on and just plough through.

the reality of a-levels law? it was perhaps damn-dest of all uk pre-degree programme ever offered. i practically saw my future turned into rubbles. my one term of law notes was equivalent to a semester's worth. missing a class means you'd prolly have to re-read for the next 3 days just to catch up ( i may be exaggerating, either that or i'm just such a noob at the subject). but it did alter my whole perspective of doing law and when i got offered to do mass communication, i jumped at the very thought of doing something that would require me to do... lots of writing. awesome!!! but it also meant me leaving college and my newly found friends behind. one of them in particular was Quelista, or better known as Ellie.

You know how you developed a best friend in school, or at work? well, that was who Ellie was to me back in college. it was a very short friendship, for she stayed on and her parents plans since the beginning was to have her finish her A-Levels law (which she also wanted to do to) and go to Notts (that's university of nottingham by the way) for her degree.

Ellie was someone whom I think every parents would want their daughter to emulate. She was a very wholesome sort of person. Pretty (she's of mixed parentage - mom malay and dad chinese), an excellent pianist, did very well in school, sweet, soft-spoken, fun... everyone loved her. me included. i think amongst our classmates, she was the one with the most beautiful handwriting. it was very romantic. all cursive and neat. i insisted to write in that handwriting style too, only that mine ended up bigger, and worst  :)

after a term of giving A-levels law a try, and after i got my exam results and was offered to do mass comm at a local Uni (I went to UiTM by the way) I decided to abandon all plans of continuing doing law. so it was bye2 to Ellie but we still kept in touch and would be calling each other when one has free time, even planning to meet, just to catch up. but it never happened (the meet that is) because either one of us would suddenly have some  last minute engagement or the other. and somehow along the way, when we both started to get real busy, we just stopped being in contact. you know how someone sometimes just drifted away? i think the same thing happened to us.

when i joined facebook in 2007, amongst the first thing i did was to look up for Ellie to add to my list of friends. I couldn't find her. thought that she's probably not into fb yet. bumped into old college friends and they too weren't quite sure what happened to her. we all knew that she flew to the UK as planned. but she probably did not pursue law after all. but no one actually knew her whereabouts.

of course the years passed by and once a while the very thought of Ellie would cross my mind. but i figured that she would prolly have been married and with kids. and living a good life whether abroad or here. but i was still curious and wanted to be in touch again so i decided to do what we all tend to do these days...I googled...

i did that exact thing, and after a few scrolls i found a blog link about her. knowing her full name, my guess was it should be her. and i was right. the blog belongs to her cousin and thats when i knew what exactly happened to Ellie.

Ellie passed away of cancer in May 2003, at age 22. She passed away roughly 4 years since we last kept in touch. she passed away 8 years ago and i was 8 years too late to know. she passed away not knowing that I got married to my high-school sweetheart, and that i now have a 5 year old boy whom i
would have loved her to meet. despite all this,  Ellie will always have that special place in my heart, and i will forever treasure the friendship we had. Semoga Allah sentiasa mencucuri rohnya... Al-Fatihah...

ben's

i've found new love, and ben's the name.

i used to frequent ben's pavi. it feels so right being there, with good company to just enjoy the food and catch up with old times.

but i've stopped doing that entirely now that i'm back to working and location wise, it's just to not too convenient anymore.

there is a closer ben's alternative. if you go to bangsar village. there's ben's general food store. but the one in bangsar feels more like a cafeteria than anything else. the menu's much simpler, and cost slightly lesser than it's other counterpart. there's also another one in publika (solaris dutamas). it's called Ben's Independent Grocer and that one is just awesome!!! one of these days, i plan to take a half day off and just go spend my time alone stuffing myself sill with their caesar salad... it's just so good!!!

like seriously, how can you not go i want this, and this and this when you see such awesome display of food??!!! but yes, coming from someone who is literally anti-veggies ( i don't eat them actually) i'm now NOT getting enough of their caesar salad and just the very thought of it makes me want to leave the office pronto!!!!

think i will go get 'em tomorrow... yay!! :D

HOLIDAY...

that's all i could think off right now.

i want to do bali. i just want go chill by the beach. wah wah wah!!

since paris' been pushed to year-end... (moral of the story, never book knowing that you might just be going back to work soon enough), we figured why don't we go somewhere not too far, nor too expensive but still oozes fun ( i mean, leaving on a plane to another country by choice and staying in a nice hotel? how could that not be fun???!!!!). ngeh heh heh...

and you know, we might end up travelling to more countries (albeit nearby) this year than we ever did because of the delayed trip to france. blessing in disguise, for god always knows best. :)

tada!!

sorry for the silence. my laptop decided to go kaput on me. huwargh!!!

no wait, it's not actually the laptop. but the mouse and the touch pad aren't working. and boy was i really dysfunctional the whole of last weekend. i did not bring back my office laptop cause i went to penang, and decided that it was just too bulky to lug around. besides, i won't be doing any work at the hotel cause we had the presentation decks all stored in another person's computer.

to simply put it, i really did miss using the laptop to blog over the weekends. i couldn't surf for holidays, nor could i play polyvore... sobs...

the mouse and touchpad are yet to be fixed. i just don't have the time to get it fixed. omg!!!!

have resorted to blogging and surfing from office for the time being. will lug this lappy back so i can surf as usual over the weekends. yeay!!!

When I get to Paris... :)

Polyvore

My Sunday

Whenever I am bored, or when I am too lazy to see what's in my closet, I will just make a beeline to the polyvore site and start creating looks. It's the best visual retail theraphy, more so cause it will not hurt your pocket pronto.

so here's what i've created today. it's basically a very 'me' look, cause i was never that dressy to begin with. i stick to a simple, practical style always. i can go out wearing very cheap clothes without a care in the world. only drawback of mine? i need to have a very good bag (in other words, it has got to be a designer bag). only that bit of luxury i would allow myself. otherwise, i'm all good. :)

reflection...

Allah Ta'ala says: "And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their private parts from sin and not show of their adornment except only that which is apparent, and draw their headcovers over their necks and bosoms and not reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women (i.e., their sisters in Islam), or their female slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants free of physical desires, or small children who have no sense of women's nakedness. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And turn unto Allah altogether, O you Believers, in order that you may attain success.[An-Nur, 24:31]

It has been slightly more than a month since I wore the hijab.
How does it feel? some may ask...
My answer? it's the best-est decision i've ever made!! :D

Syukur to Allah S.W.T (He, the most gracious and merciful) for showing me the path to righteousness, Insya Allah. Of course, I wonder if I should have donned the hijab earlier, when I was much younger. But I think, my decision to do so at this age was apt. It was a decision well thought, and I appreciated the need and reasons better, Alhamdulillah...

I feel so much calmer now that I am all covered up. I don't worry about being out of place at all because I know that I don the hijab because I wanted to, and because I am doing it for myself, without ever being forced to. I feel happier now, knowing that somehow or rather, what i am doing is the right thing, and may Allah S.W.T (Exalted is He) will always show me the correct way, and give me His blessings. Also, I don't have to worry about having bad hair days (plus point!) but of course there are moments when the shawl just won't go the way I wanted it to be... ishk ishk ishk... :P

It's not just about getting your head covered you know. It's also about carrying responsibilities towards becoming a better muslim. I used to be reckless, and I still carry those traits in me. And my lack of patience, Masya Allah... I am still trying to work on that one. I'm awfully short tempered and I'm such a monster when I strive for perfection. Nauzubillah...

I am learning to slowly accept and be more tolerant. VERY SLOWLY that is... But hey, I am trying. :)

ouch!

woke up with aching body...

and obviously, it was because of this... :D

wee hoo!!

can't contain my excitement already!

ian and an coming down the slide

given the time and chance, i would do it all over again!!!! the slides were awesome, and i conquered my fears by jumping down the highest / tallest slide at the adventure zone. weeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

penang

greetings gorgeous earthlings!! :)

i'm officially blogging from the hotel's mini library. yeap, we are in penang right now. just a short gateaway due to the long weekend. lovely!! :) well, it definitely was a surprise cause we were planning for pangkor earlier, but had to last minute cancel as hubby has a performance with his ex-uni lecturer for the lecturer's uni alumni dinner (yes, hubby plays guitar, used to be in a band but has since quit. family comes first.. ngeh heh heh... but no, hubby was never a full time guitarist. he has a full time job) :D

so yeah, so i was thinking maybe the long weekend break would be spent at home. oh the joy when dear other half called late friday evening telling me that he made a booking at golden sands!! wah, mak suka ok... i was at mydin that time tengah beli tudung... muahahahahaha!!

so here we are, in penang... going back later today. after playing slides at the adventure zone that is. heh heh... oh, and also after stuffing ourselves silly afterwards. i mean, no way you should miss out on the food when you are in penang. that's equivalent to sinning. :p
